Freedom ~ How do you value it?

Richard Fernandez of The Belmont Club has written an important post on Freedom and what might constrain it, while coupling it to intelligence and the life of a system. If we take words away, or forbid the use of words, will we understand what we see when those words materialize in front of us? Well worth a read.

  2. Hunt, That was an extremely interesting article, which I found enlightening. Tom Brokaw is an extremely intelligent man, and worth listening to, but didn’t he also say that Americans shouldn’t view the 9/11 footage, because it would just keep us mad? My point is while in part I buy in, another part says he’s talking just to be heard. The fact is we have taken “political correctness” to a level that really is beyond dumb. If it walks like a duck, if it quacks like a duck, and if water just flows off it’s back, you can pretty much guarantee it’s a duck. Pairing down training documents so we don’t offend some anonymous group of people is stupid and will be the death of this country. Why oh why do we insist on taking the EXPRESS. Take care, Bill

Once you cross the line where you take shelter among civilians, where you use civilization against itself, you have crossed the line in my sand.
