On gay hate and freedom of speech

We wail about the lack of civility – it begins and ends in your head, on your lips, and on your screen. Let me rephrase that: it begins and ends in our heads, to our lips, and on our screens. We should be able to disagree without being hurtful. Whether the topic is gay vs. straight, guns v. no guns, regardless of topic.

  1. The thing I hate about gays is the fact that they hijacked a word I was in the habit of using a lot to mean happy and merry!
You are right that any issue should be argued without ever descending to personalities. ‘The views are founded on prejudice and ignorance because … xyz …’ rather than, ‘you are a prejudiced moron!’.
